Recycle Right

SWACO has created a program called Recycle Right. They have many surprising statistics on this web page including that Franklin County residents have about 1 MILLION pounds of waste that go to landfills and 70% of that could have been reduced! You can recycle many things in the curbside recycling including cardboard, glass, plastic, cartons and metal. One important thing is to ensure that you are not putting your recyclables in trash bags.

Recycling and reducing waste goes behind just the curbside recycling. You can compost a lot of waste including yard waste, dog feces, food waste (this will vary on proper ways to dispose). You can reduce waste in even more ways than that, unused pharmaceuticals, batteries recycling drop-offs.

Also a step further is what can you do with perfectly good furniture? Clothes? Use the recycle right tool to determine the best places to drop-off and donate those.
